Vanity Fair style portraits
Your pet is family, so why is every photo of them a blur?
You have hundreds of pictures of your dog or cat, and not one of them is worth framing. Here is how a minimalist, Vanity Fair-inspired pet portrait finally gives them the picture they deserve.
Picture it: your dog finally settles by the window, the light is perfect, and you reach for your phone. By the time the camera opens, there is a nose, a smudge and the back of a wagging tail.
Scroll through your camera roll and you will find hundreds of photos like that. Your pet is in them, but never quite. A paw on the couch, a blur on the lawn, a pair of glowing eyes in a dark kitchen. None of them looks like the friend who greets you at the door every day.
The cost is quiet but real. Pets do not stay young, and the years go by quickly. One day you may want a picture on the wall that captures their face, their look, their personality, and find you only have snapshots.
A portrait with nothing in the way
Andrea is a published portrait photographer whose work includes pet portraits, and her style is "less is more". That means no clutter, no busy backyard, no laundry basket in the corner. The focus stays on your pet, the way a Vanity Fair portrait keeps the focus on its subject.
Her camera has been busy for the last 20 years, and she photographs people from 1 year old through to the golden years, so if you want to be in the frame with your pet, you can be.
How it works
First, we meet for a consultation. We talk about your pet, what makes them who they are, and whether the session suits the studio or the outdoors better. We prepare a moodboard so you can see the look before the day, and every detail we discuss is emailed to you.
Next, you book with a retainer. We always reserve two dates, so if your pet is unwell or the day simply goes sideways, you can reschedule once free of charge. No pressure to force a session on a bad day.
Then comes the session itself, in the studio or outdoors, kept simple so your pet is the whole story.
If you have a special idea in mind, such as a costume or a themed look, the studio can design the set and the details, with skills that include tailoring, crafting, painting and building.
What changes for you
Instead of a phone full of almosts, you have a portrait of your pet that looks like them: clear, calm and worth hanging where everyone can see it. A picture you will be glad to have for years.
We serve Kamloops, Falkland, Armstrong, Chase, Vernon and the surrounding areas. Start with a consultation and tell us about the animal you love.
