Vanity Fair style portraits
When you cannot promise the day will be a good one
A teething toddler, a parent with good days and hard days, a shift schedule that changes every week. You want the portrait, but you are afraid to book a date life might not let you keep. Here is how we plan around that.
Picture it. You have finally decided this is the year for a real portrait: your mother, your daughter and her little one, three generations in one frame. Then you look at the calendar and hesitate.
Your grandson is cutting molars. Your mother has good weeks and tired weeks, and nobody knows which is coming. Your own shifts change with little warning. So you close the calendar and tell yourself you will book when things settle down.
Things rarely settle down. The toddler becomes a preschooler, the hard weeks become more common, and the portrait you meant to have stays an idea.
What waiting really costs you
The worry is fair. Nobody wants to pay to reserve a day, then watch it fall apart over a fever or a bad night, and either push through or lose the date.
But every month you wait, the people you wanted to photograph change. The baby face is gone, and the season you wanted to remember is behind you. The real cost is not a lost booking. It is the portrait that never happens.
How we plan for real life
We build some room into every booking, so one hard day does not undo your plans.
First, we sit down together for a consultation. We talk through who is coming, what you have in mind and whether the studio or an outdoor setting suits your family best. We prepare a moodboard, and afterwards we email you every detail we discussed, so nothing rests on anyone's memory.
Second, you hold your session with a retainer. That is all it takes to book.
Third, we always book two dates for you, not one. If the first day turns out to be the wrong day, because someone is unwell, exhausted or simply not themselves, you move to the second. That one reschedule is free of charge.
Then, on the day that works, Andrea does what she has been doing for the last 20 years. Her style is less is more, with nothing in the frame competing with your family. She photographs anyone from one year old through to the golden years, so a wriggly toddler and a great-grandparent are both in good hands.
Book now, without the gamble
With a backup date already in place, you do not have to wait for a perfect stretch of calendar that may never come. You can book while the little one is still little and while everyone you want in the picture can be there.
If a portrait has been sitting on your someday list, start with a conversation. Tell us about your family and the days you are worried about, and we will plan around them. We serve Falkland, Kamloops, Vernon, Armstrong, Chase and the surrounding areas.
