Graduation and senior portraits
When you hate having your picture taken but grad photos are coming
You know the feeling: someone lifts a phone, you don't know what to do with your hands, and the photo comes out stiff. Senior portraits shouldn't feel like that. Here is how a guided session takes the guesswork off your shoulders.
Picture a family dinner last summer. Someone says "everybody smile," and you suddenly forget how your face works. You look at the photo later and wince: shoulders up, half a smile, the shirt you would never have picked for a picture.
Now graduation is coming, and everyone is asking when you are booking your senior photos. Part of you wants to skip them altogether.
What the dread really costs you
If you skip senior portraits, or rush through them feeling awkward, you lose more than a few pictures. These are the images that end up on your yearbook tribute page, on grad announcements and on the walls of the people who love you. You only graduate from high school once.
Worse, stiff photos tend to confirm the story you already tell yourself: "I'm just not photogenic." Most of the time, that isn't true. You simply haven't had anyone show you what to do.
How we guide you through it
Our graduation sessions are guided from start to finish, so you are never left standing there wondering what comes next. Here is what that looks like.
First, we talk. During your consultation we work with you to choose outfits, settings and poses that feel like you. You can pick a natural outdoor setting or an urban backdrop, whichever suits your style.
Second, you don't have to get ready alone. On photography day you get professional makeup and hair styling, and your outfit is styled too. When you walk in front of the camera, you already know you look put together.
Third, we take our time. Plan to spend up to four hours with our team. That means no rushing and no pressure to nail it in the first few frames. We direct your poses as we go, so you can settle in and stop worrying about your hands.
Then, within a week, you see your images. Every digital file you choose comes in colour and black and white, together with its matching matted print and a print release.
What changes for you
Instead of dreading the day, you walk in with a plan, a styled look and a team that tells you exactly what to do. You leave with portraits you are actually happy to share, whether on a yearbook tribute page, an invitation or a personalized Senior Magazine designed with your favourite quotes, styles and meaningful locations.
If you have ever said "I just don't photograph well," give us a chance to prove you wrong. Book your session in Kamloops or Vernon, or call us to ask anything first.
