What to give the parents who already have everything

The big anniversary is coming, and you are out of ideas. Another sweater, another gadget, another dinner they will forget by spring. Here is a gift that ends up on their wall instead of in a drawer.

Picture it: your parents' fortieth anniversary is a month away. You have scrolled the gift guides twice. They do not need another kitchen gadget, they have more sweaters than closet space, and the last framed print you bought them is leaning against a wall in the spare room.

You want to give them something that says what the years have meant. Everything in the shopping cart says "I ran out of time."

Why the usual gifts fall flat

Things wear out, get regifted, or quietly disappear in the next downsizing. A dinner out is lovely, and it is over by dessert. None of it gives your parents something to look at every morning and remember who they built a life with.

The cost is not the money. It is the chance to mark a milestone that will not come around again, slipping past with a gift nobody remembers.

Book a session

A portrait made to be handed down

A legacy portrait is a different kind of gift. Here is how we make it with you at our studio in Falkland, serving the greater Okanagan.

First, we talk. Every session is custom, designed specifically for you, so we plan it around your parents and what you want the portrait to say: just the two of them, or the whole family around them.

Then we photograph them. You get a portrait of the people they are now, not a phone snap from a crowded table.

Next, we print it as a museum-grade archival matted print on acid-free paper, using museum-quality archival paper and inks that stand the test of time.

Finally, we frame it properly to protect the work. The professional frame provides airtight sealing and UV protection, and shields the print against dust, moisture and insects. Andrea wears gloves whenever she handles the finished pieces, so what you give them arrives exactly as it left our hands.

If your parents have a treasured old wedding photo that has seen better days, we also offer photo restoration, scanning and professional photo editing. Paired with a new portrait, it shows where they started and where they are now. Our legacy wall design service can help you plan how the pieces hang together.

What changes when they unwrap it

Instead of a polite thank-you and a gift bag in the closet, your parents get something they will hang where they see it every day. Years from now, it is the piece your children ask about, and the one someone in the family will be glad to inherit.

If a milestone is coming up, give yourself time to plan the session. Reach out and we will start designing it with you.
