You can see it clearly: the costume, the head dress, the mood. What you cannot find is someone in the Okanagan who will design it, make it and photograph it. Here is how we turn an idea in your head into a finished portrait.
Picture it: you have saved the same image on your phone for months. Maybe it is a sculptural head dress, a gown in a colour you cannot find in any store, or a painted backdrop that belongs in a magazine. You know exactly how you want to look in it.
Then you start asking around. One photographer only shoots what you bring. A costume rental has nothing close. A seamstress could sew the dress but cannot help with the rest. The idea goes back into the folder on your phone, and another year goes by.
What it costs to keep waiting
An idea like this is usually tied to something: a birthday, a new chapter, a child at an age you will never get back, a pet you adore. Every month it stays in your head is a month you could have had it on your wall.
Settling for a simpler session costs something too. You get a nice photo, but not the one you pictured, and you know the difference every time you look at it.
How we build it with you
Andrea is a published portrait photographer whose work started in front of the camera as a model, and her camera has been busy for the last 20 years. For unique sessions, we can design the set, the outfit, the hair and the makeup. The skills behind that include tailoring and design, painting, crafting, building, and hat and head dress design.
It starts with a consultation. You bring your saved images and your rough idea, and we prepare a moodboard together. Every detail we discuss is emailed to you afterwards, so nothing lives only in anyone's memory.
Then we make it. Your concept is shaped through Andrea's less is more, Vanity Fair-inspired style, so even an elaborate head dress or set keeps the focus on you rather than burying you. The session can happen in the studio in Falkland or outdoors.
To book, you need only a retainer. We always book two dates, so if life gets in the way, one rescheduling is free of charge. That matters when a concept takes time to prepare and you want the day to feel right.
