Grad photos that look like everyone else's, and how to make yours yours
Scroll through a graduating class's photos and they start to blur together: same pose, same backdrop, same smile. Your senior portraits can tell your own story instead, with the places, outfits and words that mean something to you.
Picture the week the yearbook comes out. You flip to the grad pages and find yourself in a row of near-identical photos: same tilt of the head, same backdrop, same half-smile. Your friend points to your picture and says it looks nice. It does. It just does not look like you.
You are the one who spent every weekend at the lake, who knows every lyric of that one album, who has a quote you have carried around since grade nine. None of that made it into the frame.
What a generic grad photo costs you
Graduation happens once. The photos from it get framed by grandparents, tucked into announcements and pulled out years from now when someone asks what you were like at eighteen.
If those photos could belong to anyone in your class, that question goes unanswered. The person you were this year, with your style, your places and your plans, slips by without a record. You cannot go back and reshoot senior year.
How we build your session around you
We start with a consultation, where we get to know you before we pick up a camera. You tell us what matters: the places you love, the look you are going for, the words you live by.
Next we plan the session together. We work with you to choose outfits, settings and poses, whether that means a natural outdoor setting or an urban backdrop. If a spot holds real meaning for you, we talk about bringing it into your photos.
On photography day, you get professional makeup and hair styling and your outfit is styled. Plan to spend up to four hours with our team, so there is time to try different looks without rushing.
Within a week, you see your images. Every digital file you choose comes in colour and black and white, with its matching matted print and a print release.
Then comes the part that really makes it yours: a Senior Magazine. We design it with you, filled with your favourite quotes, styles, outfits, themes and meaningful locations. It reads like a story about you, not a page in a catalogue.
We can also design your yearbook tribute page and your invitations and grad announcements, so the way you are shown to the people around you matches the person you are.
What changes for you
Instead of a photo that blends into the row, you end up with pictures and a magazine your family will recognize as you at a glance. Years from now, you will open it and remember exactly who you were the spring you graduated.
